Royall-The "James Bond" fragrance of Bermuda

Givenchy-New York Spring Summer 2016 Show

This season, the House of Givenchy, under the initiative of Artistic Director Riccardo Tisci, is bringing an exceptional collection to New York, as the city represents the capital of the American dream for the designer and for the founder Hubert de Givenchy, who were both supported from the very beginning by the American market.

Artist-Danny Minnick

Transformer-Marc Englander

As a conceptual furniture designer, Marc Englander has created a unique coffee table that strikes a balance between form and function. Composed of alabaster and wood, this striking piece plays both practical and sculptural roles with its style and simplicity , while also creating and blocking useable space.  By "working against" itself, Marc attempts to add a dash of backhanded playfulness with the piece and its users.  For Marc’s overall aesthetic approach and goals, this piece fits in well by using simple materials to rethink practical, everyday objects.

UN:DO-Fashion against violence

The intention of this collection is to shed new light on the way we see violence. By incorporating powerful imagery showing how gun violence tears at the fabric of society or emotionally evocative phrases into our aesthetic choices, UN:DO intends to bring the issue of gun violence to the forefront , paying tribute to all those lost to gun violence and asking how many more must fall victim to this modern epidemic.

Custo Barcelona-New York Fashion Week Spring Summer-2016

CUSTO BARCELONA PRESENTED ITS "SLOW" COLLECTION AT NEW YORK FASHION WEEK
The Spring-Summer 2016 collection launched Pier 59 Studios in New York City

(September 11, 2015 - New York, New York)   Custo Barcelona presented the Spring-Summer 2016 collection "Slow" today at New York Fashion Week. The pieces of this new collection feature intricate details and elaborate production processes. With creativity and modernity in mind, it found its inspiration in the culinary movement that rejects the standardization of taste and defends creative, slow cooking. The garments are all produced in the company's ateliers and again bear the "Made in Spain" distinction sewn into the label.
With Slow, Custo Barcelona celebrates the colorful, eclectic, one-of-a-kind personality of a woman who is unique and has her own rebellious style. The key proposals are muscular patchwork garments, dresses, coats, jackets, tops, tunics and pants featuring organic cuts inspired by ergonomics and puzzles. These pieces play on their muscular shapes, marked off with contrast stitching and gaps that emerge when they are joined, defying the conventional.
Especially evident in the collection's looks is the delicacy of the fabrics, such as blond lace and open knit mesh. These were once used solely for women but now also hint at the skin of the male bodies on the catwalk. This "trifecta"-as it is called in the firm-of three garments brought together by the same fabric and print in a single look yields a very compact visual concept, keeping with the style of Custo Barcelona.
The color palette for the various looks are inspired by nature: petal pink, emerald green, violet, white gardenia, mauve, fuchsia, lime, lemon, Mediterranean blue and tangerine come together harmoniously in the pieces. The strength and personality of black, play an important role of the looks on the catwalk, but earthy tones colored by the setting sun together with knit textures are another of Custo's winning formulas.
In the men's looks, the firm sought the carefree elegance of the Mediterranean man, using geometric and pictorial graphics in the signature look of the company.
Presented for the first time at Pier 59 Studios, the show once again brought together the brand's faithful followers, who did not want to miss a single detail of the latest proposals by Custo Barcelona. The guest list included Dascha Polanco, Selenis Leyva, Karrueche Tran, Andi Doorman, James Goldstein, Mariano Di Vaio.

Tau Vases
The Tau vases appear organic; emerging as a series of intricately rendered pleats expressing the formal complexity of natural growth systems. Seemingly as delicate as flower petals, the fragile aesthetic of the vases belies the solidity of their material.

Quad Tables
Created in five sizes and in four different marbles, the Quad table is an exercise in precision. Fanning out from a central void, the marble tabletop flows to its points of grounding in each corner, gathering into subtle folds as it progresses from the horizontal to vertical; its fluid surfaces appear taut and pleated, denying the inherent un-malleability of its structure.

MTV+Dallas Contemporary Art Fair

This year, days before the Dallas Contemporary Art Fair, MTV is staging an extravagant affair on April 8th. Texas glitterati will place their highest bids on a bevy of top notch artwork donated for HIV/AIDS. The project first began about five years ago when MTV's Staying Alive Foundation sought for new ways of raising money for a disease the remains the trickiest to generate financial support.

In a time when art auctions are too many to count, it's no easy feat to promise good quality work at a charity benefit. MTV and collaborators, Goss-Michael Foundation and Dallas Contemporary along with curator Neville Wakefield and auctioneer Simon de Pury, have put this challenge to the test by managing to secure works from from a stable of top tier artists, many of which are repeat contributors such as Marc Quinn, Taryn Simon, Sterling Ruby, and Damien Hirst, who recognize the importance of the foundation's efforts. Their work and that of sixty other artists are being silent auctioned on Paddle8.

Many of these artists, I have had the pleasure of working with in the past. Here are a few of my favorite picks:

CititzenM New York

The Dutch-based hotel line, citizenM, has finally opened one of it's affordable luxury hotels in New York City. The beautiful skyscraper located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan was developed by the award-winning company, Concrete. The colorful and inviting spaces are meant to provide travelers a home away from home. The common areas are designed like living rooms with oversized furniture, books and televisions, to give guests a relaxing and familiar environment.

CitizenM prides itself on providing low rates for their rooms by cutting out "old hotel cliches" like bellboys and laundry pressing.

Public School Reveals New Women's Collection

During Sunday's presentation at MILK, CFDA-winning duo Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, debuted their first complete women's wear collection. The designers behind Public School, dabbled in women's last season, but this presentation garnered more looks for the ladies than the men. Chow and Osborne have mastered their tailored menswear pieces, perfectly blurring the line between streetwear and workwear. That aesthetic, which has gained the support of Anna Wintour, has transitioned flawlessly to their women's spring/summer collection.

The spring garments embodied Public School's sporty and timeless silhouettes. The pieces featured graphic knits, asymmetrical dresses, pleated skirts and outerwear, all sticking to the dominate palette of the brand, black and white. With the menswear trend taking over the runways, the New York-based brand couldn't have chosen a better time to extend their line to women.

Quinta do Pessegueiro by Oitomeponto

Clear Design_

Quinta do Pessegueiro is a winery located in Douro Valley, Portugal. The five level building, constructed of packed glass and concrete cubes, was designed by architects Artur Miranda and Jacques Bec of Oitoemponto. The vineyard prides itself on it's sustainable practices and use of renewable resources, so the strategic placement of the structure on a hill, cuts out the traditional use of pumps. Natural gravity is used to power the vats and barrels used to produce the wine.

Artur and Jacques began creating furniture, rugs and lighting before opening their architecture firm in 2007 to create personal and sophisticated atmospheres.

The Franco-Turkish brand was founded in 1992 by sisters, Ece and Ayşe Ege, after they designed a collection of 15 white poplin shirts. Arne Quinze Chaos Wind Shanghai

After his first successful sculpture on Chinese soil ( i.e. ‘Red Beacon’ located in the Jing’An sculpture park ) Arne Quinze installs a new sculpture in China.  This time inside the Jing’An Kerry Centre in Shanghai.

The architect had the ambition of building Shanghai's own Fifth Avenue –the classy shopping street in New York.  The metal ‘Chaos Wind’ installation playing an essential part of this project will connect several buildings and functions.  With this public sculpture serving as a crossroad connecting people Arne Quinze succeeds again in his ongoing discourse of fighting social boundaries,  bringing everyone closer to art as a culture.

This sculpture counting 14 bright orange metal wings, weighing each between 200 and 1000 kilos, capturing the motion of leaves hovering in the wind. By freezing them in time Arne Quinze accentuates it's dynamic motion.   A strong vibrancy often seen in his work concept.  The artists trademarked red colour serving as a continuous stream of impulses,  amplifies the concept and intrigues all passer-by.

Both day and night the sculpture will strongly claim its void in space.  By day wrapping itself around its visitors underneath as an exoskeleton, creating an introvert and protective atmosphere by suggesting invisible dynamic lines,  lines that will appear by night through laser beam technology and showing it's extravert impulses to all passer-by from a street view.
